The Philadelphia Meditation Group has been meeting since the 1970’s. Its chapel is currently on the 4th floor of the Philadelphia Ethical Society on Rittenhouse Square.

Self-Realization Fellowship (SRF) is an international religious organization founded in 1920 by Paramahansa Yogananda to disseminate the universal teachings of Kriya Yoga, a sacred spiritual science which originated millennia ago in India.
Yogananda
Paramahansa Yogananda was an Indian monk, yogi and guru who has introduced millions to the teachings of meditation and Kriya Yoga through his organization Self-Realization Fellowship / Yogoda Satsanga Society of India. He wrote Autobiography of a Yogi. Paramahansa Yogananda gave his first very large class at the Public Library of Philadelphia in May of 1924. The lecture hall was so filled that some persons were sitting on the windowsills and several hundred were turned away.
